Bradford Town FC 1-0 Ivybridge Town FC | Match Report

Bradford Town defeated Ivybridge Town in the Jewson Western Premier Division at home on Saturday, with a scoreline of 1-0.

The Blues started off strong, with a chance from Josiah McKayle challenging Ivybridge’s goalkeeper in the second minute. We carried the momentum throughout the second half, which resulted in Owen Allison breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute with a calm finish into the far corner following a pin-point Ashton Shanley cross.

We nearly doubled our advantage in the 31st minute, when Jensen Wakefield’s effort was cleared off the line by an Ivybridge defender. The momentum continued to be in our favour, with efforts from both Harvey Woods in the 42nd minute, as well as Wakefield in the 44th minute seeing us go close to increasing our lead, but heading in with a 1-0 scoreline at half-time. 

The start of the second half started as we finished the first as Woods got on the end of a cross from Ashton Shanley in the 50th minute, however our number 19’s effort was fired just wide of the post. We continued to build momentum, with Wakefield seeing an effort saved only a couple of minutes later. 

The first substitution came in the 75th minute, when Leo Gallazi came on for the goalscorer Owen Allison before Tom Mack replaced Harvey Woods. Charlie Maddison also came on for Ashton Shanley in the 82nd minute.

Josiah McKayle once again put Ivybridge’s keeper under pressure, as his 88th minute attempt was denied by an impressive save. We made our fourth and final substitution in the 90th minute, when Ray Oppong replaced Josiah McKayle. 

The Blues’ only goal of the match saw us secure all three points, which sees us move above Ivybridge and up to 11th in the Jewson Western Premier Division.
