Bradford Town defeated Shepton Mallet AFC by a scoreline of 1-0 at Trowbridge Road on Friday, carrying their strong December form into Boxing Day.
Jensen Wakefield started the momentum off for us by forcing a smart save from the Shepton Mallet goalkeeper in the 14th minute, before the Blues continued their attacking efforts in the 27th minute, when a late challenge on Tom Mack saw a free kick awarded in our favour.
We held the momentum throughout the half, and a long range effort from Owen Allison being denied by Shepton’s goalkeeper in the 44th minute ensured that the deadlock remained unbroken on the stroke of half-time.
After the break, we continued to attack with another chance being generated from Wakefield, this time in the form of a header which was narrowly wide. We continued to attack as the hour mark approached, and the deadlock was broken when the ball fell to Tom Mack on the edge of the box after bouncing around the attacking third. A curled strike from Mack sent the ball goal-ward, and although Marko Radovanović got a hand to it, it wasn’t enough to prevent the ball from nestling in the top left corner of the net, seeing the Blues take the lead in spectacular fashion.
Further link-up play between Fabian Stanislas and Owen Allison nearly doubled the lead in the 64th minute, but the latter’s effort narrowly avoided the far post. The 72nd minute saw us make our first substitution of the match, as Josiah McKayle and Ashton Shanley were replaced by Charlie Maddison and Harvey Woods.
Additional changes include Leo Gallazi and Theo Black replacing Jacob Mead and Owen Allison in the 83rd minute, and Charlie Warren replacing the goalscorer Tom Mack in the 86th.
A stunning save from Tom Creed in the 87th minute ensured that the Blues would be coming away with all three points, as the scoreline of 1-0 to Bradford Town remained intact when the final whistle was blown.
This sees us achieve a 100% record in the league this December, making it three wins from three. We are back in action on the 3rd of January, as we make the trip down to Devon to take on Sidmouth Town.
